Years later, I'd remember a show and try to find it again, only to discover that the Vietnamese title was often nowhere to be found online. The original Chinese or English title might be well documented, but the Vietnamese release name could be completely different — and sometimes there was simply no obvious way to connect the two. I ran into the same problem while cleaning up my own Plex library. I had a large collection of Vietnamese-dubbed TVB and ATV VHS, VCD, and DVD releases, but many couldn't be matched properly because Plex's metadata sources don't know about the Vietnamese release titles.
So I started cataloging them and working out what each release actually was. The goal isn't just to identify the shows. Once a title has been identified, I can link it to its corresponding TMDb entry, giving the release a proper connection to modern metadata such as posters, fanart, cast, descriptions and other information that Plex can use.
What started as a way to clean up my own library has grown into a much larger catalog, so I've put the information here in the hope that it can help other people doing the same thing — whether you're trying to organize a Plex library, identify an old Vietnamese VCD or VHS, or simply remember the name of a TVB drama you watched years ago.
If you remember the Vietnamese title, hopefully you can find the show here.
Each entry was identified using Claude (Anthropic's AI) reading the text and cast photos directly off VHS/DVD cover art, then cross-referencing that against Wikipedia, Baidu Baike, MyDramaList, and DramaWiki. I've reviewed the results, but did not independently re-verify every single entry against the original cover — so treat this as a research aid, not an authoritative database. The confidence note explaining how each entry was identified is shown directly in the Notes column.
Because this was AI-assisted, some entries are almost certainly wrong. Cover art is often low-resolution, stylized, or partially obscured, and cross-referencing a title across Vietnamese/Chinese/English sources is genuinely ambiguous in places — mistakes are expected, not just possible. Don't treat anything here as confirmed without checking the source yourself.
This list is a work in progress and not complete. Some titles couldn't be confidently identified — usually because the cover art was too degraded, low-resolution, or ambiguous to read. If you recognize one of these, or know a title we've gotten wrong, please email me — I'd genuinely appreciate the help filling in the gaps. Each row also has a "Suggest a fix" link that pre-fills which title you're pointing to.
